Our First Speaker of the LPC Speakers Series: Thomas Ramsey
Title: A Moment With Nature
Our speaker will be Thomas Ramsay. He is a University of Minnesota Alumnus of Notable Achievement, an entrepreneur, inventor with thirteen patents, and an acclaimed director, cinematographer, underwater photographer, and teacher. He is an award-winning photographer, filmmaker, and conservationist. His images and films have been shown in over 40 countries and have received more than thirty international awards, including the Gold Hugo and Cine Golden Eagle. His work has taken him from photographing polar bears in the Arctic to seabirds in the Aleutians and wetlands across the Americas, always blending artistry with a strong commitment to conservation.
Along with his wife, Nancy Goetzinger, he co-founded the Leesburg School of Photography and co-manages The Image Center, where Tom and Nancy produce the global series “A Moment with Nature." Their upcoming book, “Into Their Worlds: A Love Story with Wings," continues Tom’s lifelong passion for showcasing the beauty and wonder of animals and their habitats.
Aside from his photography, Tom has been a leader in imaging science and technology, most recently co-founding Imago Systems, a company that advances medical visualization for early detection of breast cancer and cardiovascular treatment. This unique combination of creativity and innovation reflects his lifelong goal: to help people see more clearly — whether through a camera lens, the pages of a book, or the wonders of the natural world.
